Sextile

Orb
The allowable degree of separation for an aspect to be considered active. Tighter orbs indicate stronger influence. Major aspects typically use a 6–8° orb.

Ascendant (Rising)

Element
The four fundamental energies — Fire, Earth, Air, Water — each shared by three signs. Your elemental balance describes the texture of your energy.
Modality
The three modes — Cardinal, Fixed, Mutable — describing how signs initiate, sustain, or adapt energy. Each element contains one of each modality.
Stellium
Three or more planets clustered in the same sign or house. Concentrates and intensifies that sign or house's themes significantly.
Synastry
The comparison of two natal charts to understand how two people's energies interact — the basis of compatibility readings.
Solar Return
A chart cast for the exact moment the Sun returns to its natal position each year — essentially an astrological birthday. Used to forecast the year ahead.
Domicile / Detriment
A planet in its domicile (home sign) expresses naturally. In detriment (opposite sign), the energy is less comfortable and must work harder.
Exaltation / Fall
A planet in exaltation functions at its highest expression. In fall (opposite sign), it's less powerful and may manifest more unconsciously.
